New State Budget
June 30, 2009
Special thanks going out to Representative Jeff Espich for his integral role in getting our state budget passed. Thanks for creating a budget that will work for Indiana. Also, thanks goes out to Senator Travis Holdman, Representative Matt Lehman, and Senator Leader David Long.
We recognize the long hours that our representatives and senators have put into this special session. We appreciate your hard work for our state! We also recognize the invaluable leadership of Governor Mitch Daniels.

News Flash!!!
With bipartisan support, members of the Indiana General Assembly today passed a balanced, two-year $28.5 billion state budget that “lives within its means” and avoids any general tax increases on Hoosiers.

Indiana’s two-year fiscal blueprint prioritizes public K-12 education and student assistance, maintains funding for public safety and higher education, yet saves millions in other areas of state spending.
Under the plan that now goes to Gov. Mitch Daniels for his signature, Indiana maintains emergency reserves of $1 billion to safeguard Hoosiers during what could be a prolonged recession… and for times after federal stimulus monies disappear.
More than 20 states have raised taxes at this difficult time to plug budget gaps. At least 35 states are either proposing or implementing cuts to public schools. Some are considering early release of prisoners and layoffs of state troopers.
Through recent and continued frugal management of Hoosiers’ hard-earned tax dollars, Indiana is not being forced to raise general taxes, jeopardize public safety or close vital services.
YR Summer Cookout
June 12, 2009
June 28, 2009 Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It is an important time for the Republican Party. We have created a Young Republicans organization in Wells County and seek to expand membership and participation in the group.
We are a group of like-minded, passionate individuals, between the ages of 18-40, who support the ideals of the Republican Party. As members, we understand the important role of corporate and personal decision making in fostering not only economic prosperity, but also personal advancement. Our mission is quite simple, to make Republican politics fun. Our group creates an opportunity for members to volunteer to help elect Republican candidates, and learn the inner workings of politics and policy first hand. Our members are encouraged to attend entertainment events with other Republican groups such as barbecues, parties, and seminars which will spur cohesiveness for not only our group, but our Party. It is this goal, of having fun while advancing the Republican Party that we hope will bring a much needed rejuvenation to the GOP.
We urge you to participate in our membership call-out event on Sunday, July 19, 2009. The event will take place at State Senator Travis Holdman’s home at 2467 West 1000 North, Markle, Indiana. Dinner will begin at 5:00 followed by an address at 6:00 by State Senator David Long, President Pro Tem. Other information will be given regarding how you can become an important part of the GOP efforts in Wells County.
There is no cost for admission to this call-out. The entire family is invited – games, swimming, and activities along with time for socializing and mingling will follow Senator Long’s welcome. There will also be other state and local GOP leaders in attendance, making this an excellent networking opportunity.
Please RSVP by completing this form. We look forward to seeing you on the 19th and at upcoming YR events.
Best regards,
Phillip Stoller Chairman, Wells County Young Republicans
